The course provides participants with practical training in gas measurement and knowledge of the hazards associated with working in potentially hazardous environments. The course aims to promote safety awareness and increase participants’ understanding of the importance of gas detection and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
The target group
The course is suitable for all personnel who are required to use gas detectors as part of their work.
For offshore operations, relevant positions may include Stability Supervisors on vessels and rigs, Drillers, Assistant Drillers, Crane Operators, and Safety Supervisors.
At onshore facilities, the course is recommended for operators and personnel who are required to enter confined spaces.

Regulations and guidelines for work permits and confined space entry permits Operating principles and limitations of portable gas measuring instruments/detectors Gas measurement theory, including the measurement of flammable gases, oxygen, and toxic gases Preparation, operation, calibration, and maintenance of gas detection instruments Fire and explosion theory, including static electricity Occupational exposure limits Correct use of supplied-air respiratory protective equipment, including daily cleaning and maintenance Assignments and practical exercises
