Regulations and guidelines for work permits and confined space entry permits Operating principles and limitations of portable gas measuring instruments/detectors Gas measurement theory, including the measurement of flammable gases, oxygen, and toxic gases Pre-entry testing and continuous monitoring of flammable/hazardous gases and oxygen in the work atmosphere using portable gas measuring instruments Preparation, operation, calibration, and maintenance of gas measuring instruments Fire and explosion theory, including static electricity Isolation, cleaning, and gas-freeing principles Occupational exposure limits Risk assessment of the work atmosphere prior to entry Issuing work permits Correct use of supplied-air respiratory protective equipment, including daily cleaning and maintenance Assignments and practical exercises
